Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the PDFs, the generators, printing and licensing.
Is GridPaperPDF really free?
Yes. Every generator and every PDF is free, with no account, watermark or email wall. The site may show ads to cover its running costs.
What is the difference between the ready-made PDFs and the generator?
The ready-made PDFs are one-click downloads of the most common grids on US Letter and A4. The generator lets you change the square size, colours, margins, paper size and extras, then creates your own PDF in your browser.
How do I print graph paper at the right size?
In the print dialog choose Actual size or 100% and avoid Fit to page. Print one page and measure it with a ruler. The guide to printing at true size lists the settings for each browser.
Which paper sizes are available?
US Letter, A4, A5, A6, Half Letter, US Legal, Tabloid and A3, each in portrait or landscape. The ready-made PDFs come in Letter and A4, with landscape versions of the graph, coordinate and dot grids.
Are my settings or files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your paper is drawn in your own browser, and your options are saved only on your own device so the page remembers them next time.
Which grid size should I choose?
5 mm or 1/4 inch suits most notes and homework, 1 cm or 1/2 inch suits young students, and 2 mm, 1 mm or 1/8 inch suits detailed work. The guide to graph paper sizes compares them.
Can I use the papers for commercial purposes?
You can print as many sheets as you like for personal, classroom and in-house business use. You may not resell the papers or the generator as a stand-alone product. The terms page has the full wording.
Why do my printed lines look lighter than on screen?
Printers lighten thin lines, and colour looks different on paper. Pick a slightly darker grid colour or thicker line in the generator, and print in normal or high quality.
Can I request a new grid type?
Yes. Send a suggestion through the contact page. Planner grids, music or perspective grids and more graph variations are good candidates.
